Happy Birthday Amber!

Yesterday we celebrated Amber's 12th birthday. This was the first time Grandma and Grandpa Schnarr were able to host one of our birthday parties.

Grandma made a wonderful turkey dinner for us (our family, Babum and Nanny). She put out her beautiful China plates and glasses for us to use. Amber loved the meal and the time with family.

For her cake I made her a banjo the same size as the one she plays. She really liked that.

For her birthday she got candy (perfect for Amber), a horse blanket, and the American Girl Doll, Kaya, she had been wanting. She was very excited!

First Week of School

On Monday we started school. I think for the most part everyone is enjoying it. Every morning we start by reading the Bible together and memorizing verses. Amber, Trent and Trey will finally be able to use the Bible verse charts they made. At the end of eight weeks they will get a special prize.
After Bible time Mommy does history, math etc... with them. This works out well for me since I am not a morning person. Then in the afternoon it's my turn to help them with spelling, dyslexia exercises and the other things I've mentioned before.

Trey's 9th Birthday Part 2

On Friday we were able to celebrate the second part of Trey's birthday. It was so nice to have both sets of grandparents at the party. We had a very nice time eating a great dinner and opening gifts. Trey was very excited money he received! I think he is already planning how he will spend it!
For his birthday I made Trey a cake that looked like a monkey face. He loves monkeys so I think he liked it a lot.
We were able to have a great time laughing and joking with everyone. I think Trey had a wonderful birthday!

Beware Lest You Forget...

September 11, 2001... a date that everyone remembers, an event many seem to forget.
I was about nine years old when the airplanes crashed into the World Triad Center. I can't tell you I remember everything vividly but I do remember I was afraid we all were, every single American. It was a terrible act and we all wondered what would happen next.
I'd have to say that is what I remember most about 9/11, our wonderful God and how so many Americans turned to Him in this time of crises. There were signs all over the place saying "In God We Trust" and "God Bless America". It was wonderful to see the American people relying on God. When we called out to Him, He listened. God kept our nation safe.
But something happened... something awful. We forgot.
Once everything seemed to calm down, once we thought it was safe again we no longer felt the need to rely on God. We've forgotten how much we needed Him only a few short years ago. Suddenly instead of hanging signs up declaring our trust in God we debate as to whether we should keep "In God We Trust" on our currency. We even try to discourage people from using the name of Jesus in schools. What happened? How did we change so quickly? The answer is simple. We've forgotten.
Deuteronomy 8:11-14 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
I would encourage you today take time to remember 9/11. Make sure you haven't forgotten and pray for our nation's healing.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Unpacking

Everything went well this Saturday. Grandpa and Grandma made it here safely and we had a lot of very nice people from our church come to help us unload the moving truck. We were able to get that done in less than 2 hrs. Thank you every one for your help!
For the last few days we have been helping Grandma and Grandpa unpack boxes and put the things away. We have been doing little odds and ends like hanging curtains and putting up the water bed. Yesterday Nanny and Babum came over for a few hours to help us out. Then Nanny made a wonderful dinner for the tired packers. It's so nice to have both setts of grandparents in town!

Trey's Birthday Part 1

Yesterday Trey turned nine years old. He was very excited! We had a small celebration last night with Nanny and Babum. He opened a few gifts and we had cheese cake and ice cream. For dinner Mommy made Trey's favorite meal - Breakfast! Trey loved the blue berry pancakes, orange rolls, bacon and egg casserole!

Once Grandpa and Grandma get settled in we will have another little party for Trey. Trey will enjoy celebrating it all over again!

Welcome to Virginia!

The Day is finally here! Grandpa and Grandma Schnarr are moving to Virginia! Thank you to everyone who has been praying. We would appreciate it if you would continue to pray that that things will go smoothly in the loading and unloading process.
Don't forget their is still time to help with the 2009 "Knit Together with Love" scarf project! For more information click the link at the top of this page.
